Was doing some genealogy research and came across the following article in the London St James Gazette An Evening Review And Record Of News, February 27, 1888. Enjoy!

    Good evening, all!

This reminds me of the story of some friends of mine: Their new baby didn't sleep well at night, and the doctor recommended they get a loud-ticking alarm clock and put it into the crib with the baby. Worked like a charm, but the parents, being modern folks unfamiliar with old-fashioned alarm clocks, didn't realize they were also winding the alarm spring. The alarm went off in the middle of the night, waking the parents, but the baby slept right through it.

    Best regards!
