I am reassembling a cuckoo quail movement. Very complicated! Anyone know of books , videos etc. about quail movements?

Hello Robert, My first cuckoo clock was a cuckoo, quail. Herbert herr early 1900s. I got it back together with YouTube videos, that was just the basic assembly, the rest was from just watching it and understanding what did what, The people in this group helped me the most in understanding how it works, I had alot of fun doing it and became hooked, now I'm on my fourth clock in less than a year, Good luck, just be patient.

Mr. Horneman, could you be a little more specific about your problem? They are rather difficult, but you can do it. I just finished one.

My main problem is the location of the levers. The wheels etc. are very simple to put in place. I know patience is a factor. I'm sure after assembling ,taking down and reassembling several times I will get it right.

Post a picture of what you have. We can likely help from that better.

The Modern Clock by Ward L Goodrich has a couple of pages and detailed diagrams of a cuckoo quail. There is a 1:24:16 long YouTube video on a cuckoo quail with detailed explanation of how it works here:
