What is the best way to tell what size weights are needed for an 8 day cuckoo clock? any idea how to make a gage or way to add weight until the correct weight is reached?

8 day weights should be 1500 grams.

Most of mine are in the 1250-1260 range and some go down to 1000.
Lighter is always better if the clock will keep good time and has doesn't have a lazy cuckoo.
1500 on some clocks will make the cuckoo sound like a caffeinated cocaine addict.

Make a little cup or baggy rig, and add bits of sand or gravel to the cup until the clock runs well. Then weigh the gravel. :)
