• Upcoming updates
Over the next couple of weeks we will be performing software updates on the forum. These will be completed in small steps as we upgrade individual software addons. You might occasionally see a maintenance message that will last a few minutes at most.

If we anticipate an update will take more than a few minutes, we'll put up a notice with estimated time.

    Thank you!

Could anyone date this Gustav Becker clock

I have recently bought this Beker and would like to know the date of this clock. Regards, John
John, based on the serial number your clock was made in 2nd quarter 1906, the same time that the patent DRP 171659 was granted. This is the earliest clock with that patent identified that I have documented to date.

For info, Kochmann's serial numbers apply ONLY to clocks made in the GB Freiburg factory, and after 1900 are NOT accurate. For that period they are based only on four clocks and used sales receipts which cannot be assured were the first sale. If anyone wishes to date their GB clocks, go to this thread where I have posted accurate dating tables for both Freiburg and Braunau clocks: Look for Post #80 in this thread.

It will be much appreciated if you could post photos of the complete clock front view, dial, etc for full documentation. This appears to be the movement for a freischwinger, spring drive, but can't tell for sure. Thanks in advance for your help.

Many thanks John for you date info on my Becker. I have included some photos of the clock. I am not sure if there is something missing, but there is a faded spot just above the top shelf and it is missing a piece on the left side final, which I`m getting my local cabnet maker to make for me.Any other information you could give me on this clock I would most appreciate. Regards, John

John, thanks for posting the photos of your clock. I looked through the two GB catalogs I have from before WWI and although there are similar clocks illustrated none were exact matches. From my data it is evident that GB made the Freischwinger style clocks for many years from the mid-1880's to WWI so there are a large variety of case designs.
