Over the next couple of weeks we will be performing software updates on the forum. These will be completed in small steps as we upgrade individual software addons. You might occasionally see a maintenance message that will last a few minutes at most.

If we anticipate an update will take more than a few minutes, we'll put up a notice with estimated time.

I have a fairly uncommon "cottage clock" that I would like to inquire as to the cost of replicating the dial surround pallet. Below are pics of the clocks, the one with the clear glass is mine and the painted upper on is what the original glass should look like. Thank you in advance for any and all replies. Chris.

I have to wonder if a water transfer would work on that. Seems to work for replacement dials, with it only being 2 colors, i wouldnt think it would be that hard to do. The hard part would be getting a good photo of the image to copy. Im going to have to get my screen printing press cleaned and adjusted and try to print on glass instead of tee shirts. My ink jet printer is set up with only black ink for tee shirt printing, so i couldnt do a water transfer, but i could do things like that on the tee shirt press depending on the type of paint that would work on glass. time to do some digging.

So i have found a good ink/paint that can be used on glass and dries hard within 24 hours, so ill order a few colors and find a good image to use to try to copy it on glass. If it works, i may try a few tests on durability.

The size of the glass is 6 3/8x6 3/8 and the id of the dial surround is 5 1/8. It will take me about a month to clean and polish the works and components and case. We can talk about cost and logistics via IM/E-mail at a later date. Thank you for taking interest in helping restore this "uncommon clock"

its all fun to try for me. When you can, i need a high res photo as flat as possible. Ill toss it into photoshop and color seperator and see what and how many colors i come up with on the clock.

What does the back of the glass look like? Is it solid black, or can you see some "sparkle" from the gold?

The "gold" designs look to be fairly intact but the black "background" paint is mostly gone. Here is pics from the seller as I do not have the clock yet. Ty. Chris.

Thank you. From the pictures, it appears to be stenciled and backed with black paint. Based on the complexity of the design, I don't think it's gilded. It'll be interesting to hear what you find when it arrives.
