correct suspension spring?

i was able to save this clock from going to the landfill, and it appears that the suspension spring has been jury rigged..that said, i have no idea of how to determine the correct size/whatever of new suspension spring, and would appreciate any help.

Just remove all that (whatever it is) including the remaining part of the suspension spring. Just that piece is usually enough of a clue to find a good replacement. The replacement does not have to be exact, close will be fine.

You will need a tapered cross pin at the post, or simply a snug fitting piece of iron wire, bent upward on both ends.
