• Upcoming updates
Over the next couple of weeks we will be performing software updates on the forum. These will be completed in small steps as we upgrade individual software addons. You might occasionally see a maintenance message that will last a few minutes at most.

If we anticipate an update will take more than a few minutes, we'll put up a notice with estimated time.

    Thank you!

Looks like a really nice and possibly intentional patina to me. I'd be careful before doing anything to the case.

I agree about leaving the case alone, its not bronze, it is made from sheets of copper and design is either hand tooled or embossed and then soldered together. Very Arts and Craft but the case is unmarked.

Great looking clock. I agree with Richard, looks like grapes to me. Tiffany pine cone design is more linear. Here is a box with the typical Tiffany Pine Cone design.

I agree about the grapes and leaves, I sent a email inquiry to website that specialize's in Arts and Crafts perhaps they will be able to help indentify the case design

I heard back from Brad Mead, the Arts and Craft Metal expert! He believes the pattern is called Grapevine and made by Riviere Studios Out of New York State. Thanks to all who responded now I need to find a place to display the new addition! SO MANY CLOCKS:eek:

Les

I still think it is a form of bronze.

Steven, bronze disease is a chemical reaction the starts in the metal, and spreads, causing disastrous results.

In picture three the scrolls that support the clock housing show signs of "mildew colouring", whereas the rest of the case has a "bronze patina". The green colouring is the result of chemical reaction, and will corrode the metal.(why do we have to go elsewhere to look at this piece? It takes up so much time),

This is the curse of antiquities dealers and museums, and is a serious problem. it also effects brass, and is the prime reason that causes clock pressed-brass-bezels, fall to bits.
