Howdy, Here are some pictures of similar yet very different watches from my dad's recently inherited collection. Watch A is a 45mm M.I. Tobias with a rack lever escapement. It is a little dirty but in excellent condition and runs good. Watch B is a 40mm Arnold Adams. It is a little more dirty, smaller, and lighter. UHQ pictures are available. I would like to hear some thoughts on the watches. Is the Adams a fake or just some kind of imitation?
Both are typical of Swiss made watches, often imported and sold by English retailers. They are Geneva Bar ebauches (rough movements). I had not seen one set up as a rack lever. Are you sure yours is not a regular lever? From the picture which is far enough to make this determination, it looks to me like a regular Swiss lever. The movements cases and dials are typically Swiss. I would not call them fake, most English retailers imported these and sold them.
