Both dial and movement are marked “Railway Time Service” in what looks like a type of old English font. The dial is double sunk with Roman Numerals and red Arabic numerals at the five minute marks. The hour and minute hands are a fancy design. The hunting case movement is nickel, with a typical Columbus damaskeened pattern, micrometric regulator, and is marked “Adjusted” in a diagonally placed script font a little below and left of center. I don’t see any reference to this watch in a search of this forum or checking The Columbus Encyclopedia info. Also, didn’t see anything referencing this marking in the “Railroaders Corner” articles on Columbus Watch Co Shugart indicates 17j. I found another reference on line that indicated 23j. S/N is 113248. Watch isn’t in my possession, so no pictures are currently available. Any information that anyone can share would be much appreciated. Richard
Not exactly - the dial & movement only say “Railway Time Service”. The other markings (numerals) on the double sunk dial look the same. Richard
Richard, In the Ehrhardt and Meggers "Gold Book", published in 1987 the following 18 size Columbus is listed: Railway Time Service - Adjusted (18S-17J-ON3L-A-RRG"95") (EA 184) The same listing also appears in a number of other Ehrhardt publications.
