Hello,
This is a Colonial model 1054 clock with 5 tubular bells. The only markings that I see on the movement are "Made In Germany" at the bottom of the back plate, and "853" at the top of the front plate. The dial is also marked "Germany" at the bottom edge. Does anyone here know the maker of the movement. Thanks for your help.

There is a small screw plate right above the serial number, on the back.
It may cover the makers name. Colonial often wanted unlabeled
movements and requested these plates to cover makers trademarks.
The movement does not look like one of H. Winterhalder that
colonial used sometime after WWI. Before WWI they used a number
of different manufactures that would include Winterhalder & Hofmeier.
A high quality movement maker that also made tube clocks. The
movement looks like it could be one of theirs.
During WWI they didn't use German movements and used US made
movements, many by Herschede. That would likely place it in the
1910+ to early 1920's ( minus WWI period ).

T-D,
The plate was removed, but I don't see any markings behind it. But thanks for the suggestion. Picture is attached

There were only a few making tube chimes in Germany.
I'll keep watching and if I see a matching movement, I'll
test you know. It does seem to be a high quality movement.

T-D,
Thanks for finding this movement picture. It seems to be just about the same. Is it marked Winterhalder or W&H on the backplate? Was it contained in a Colonial clock?

I believe the text stated that.
Yes, it was in a different Colonial made clock.
Prior to about 1920, Colonial used a number of
different manufactures. They seemed to have
settled down to those imported through Miller clock
co.
These were primarily from H.Winterhalder's company
( related to W&H but a different company ).
At least until WWII after which they used other manufactures.
