i work for a public elementary school, and we have this beautiful, old grandfather clock in the main office that has been here since before i started working here. i'm just curious to see when it might have been made. it recently stopped working and am interested in getting it repaired. if anyone can help me out with a date and more info, that would be great. here are the details:
maker: colonial manufacturing co (plate inside door)
mark: 1318 (on back)
movement: winterhalder
movement is stamped with drp no 408845 and colonial manufacturing co 24668

Welcome to the forum.

Deutches Reich Patent ("DRP") 408845 was issued to Hausuhrenfabrik Winterhalder AG., in 1925, and deals with a self-regulating strike mechanism. Winterhalder AG, of Germany, went out of business in 1929, so your movement was made within that window.

Others may be able to provide more information on Colonial, a U.S. furniture company.

Regards.

Hi, lucasa, and welcome to the forums!

Do you happen to have a picture or two of the clock that you could post? We love to see pictures of clocks, and they can be quite helpful when identifying clocks.
