Greetings to All -
I'm a total novice that just purchased my very first grandfather clock and found this wonderful web site. It's a 5 tube Colonial and seems to be in very good working order although I'm sure it could use a good cleaning/oiling. There is no serial number plate on the inside. There is only a metal plate that says "Solid Mahogany Colonial Mfg. Co. Zeeland, Mich."
The number 1438 is stamped on the back of the case. Also on the back, in chalk is written:
1438
Move – 53
M231-49H
The clock has not been delivered yet so I only have a couple of pics at the moment. From going thru other threads I'm guessing that this clock was produced in the late 20's early 30's but I'm hoping that folks here can share additional information. BTW, I've read Andy Dervan's 2014 excellent article on the history of the company. Good stuff!
