• Upcoming updates
Over the next couple of weeks we will be performing software updates on the forum. These will be completed in small steps as we upgrade individual software addons. You might occasionally see a maintenance message that will last a few minutes at most.

If we anticipate an update will take more than a few minutes, we'll put up a notice with estimated time.

    Thank you!

I'm sure you'd like to know more about your clock!

You say it's wooden. Can you give us the size? Height and width and a general description? Fancy carvings? Plain and square? Or something different?

Is it possible the date is more like 13 June 1881? I know it's hard to read....

Please write us back - we like to help ID old clocks!

I agree with escapewheel. Ansonia made thousands, upon thousands of clocks with hundreds of models. A photo would help. Jim

Do you wind the clock? Or does it run on batteries? My guess looking at your photo is that it is a more modern clock made it to look old... We would need photos of the movement… especially the back… is there an access door that would let you stick a camera in there so we could see what’s behind the dial? a larger closeup shot of the dial might also help... any markings there?

Hello, Christmasanne, and welcome to the forum.

The best method to date a clock is by looking at the back of the movement (the "works" or the "mechanism"). Please provide pictures of the back of the movement.

Also, does the clock have an electrical chord attached to it? I see something plugged into the receptacle behind the clock.

Regards.

EDIT: I see Bruce has the same observations as I have.
