• Upcoming updates
Over the next couple of weeks we will be performing software updates on the forum. These will be completed in small steps as we upgrade individual software addons. You might occasionally see a maintenance message that will last a few minutes at most.

If we anticipate an update will take more than a few minutes, we'll put up a notice with estimated time.

    Thank you!

Sure! Go back to the first page, where you see the title of this thread, then right click on it. You'll see "bookmark this link" or something to that affect, and when you click on that you'll be able to select where to put it in your bookmarks. I put it under suppliers, which is under clocks :)

There is a place on the NAWCC main website for businesses to list their services and it seems odd to me that not many members, both individuals and business use it.
http://208.131.157.127/business-directory/
I think the reason there are only three companies listed for supply or repair is that the companies listed in the website are NAWCC members. Most of the suppliers on this thread are not.

I looked in to all three. This one looks very useful for this list:

Clock Movement Machining
Review: Remachines your broken clock parts or makes new ones as-needed for you.

I am certain that the owners of more than 2/3 of the companies on the two lists belong to NAWCC. Why they aren't listing themselves on our business list, I don't know but will follow up.

And I think that this thread has gotten sufficiently complicated that it's no longer proper for pinning and locking. Y'all can bookmark it instead.

Yes. Pity........
I will recompile it and clean it up for repost once it has gotten sufficiently large. Perhaps we can pin the repost as an official-type list. I'm also bookmarking vendors mentioned in other posts for later review and possible addition to this list.

Sorry to demonstrate my ineptitude, but can some one tell me how you construct a list of favourite links such as the ones above? I've got a few to add but not sure how. :???:

To insert a link into a post, click the "link" icon (world & links) just above the text window you're typing the post into. When the little box comes up, paste the url into its window and tell it OK. That will put a hot link called CLICK HERE into your message. Replace the words "Click here" in that link with the actual url. Then the hot link in your post will be the url.

There may be other ways.

You can directly type in the "bbCode" around your text. I keep the list in MS Word and use find/replace to format it. Here is an example with underscores added. Remove the underscores to try it for real. Be sure to click preview and test your results when going by hand. :)

[_b]Example Company[_/b]
[_url=http://example.com/][_color=blue]_http://example.com/[_/color][_/url]
Review: Your comments.

AS A SHORTCUT... :thumb: So long as you paste the http:// part of the link on this board it will automatically be turned in to a link. For example:

[_b]Example Company[_/b]
_http://example.com

Becomes:

Example Company
http://example.com

The shortcut doesn't always work on complex links like _http://example.com/some/url/way/down/cooltools.html

Be gentle with a bear of very little brain (Winnie the pooh for those who read A.A.Milne as children)... But how do you cut and paste URLs lifted from your favorites list? I've tried several ways and can't seem to make it happen. I know I could retype it all but am naturally lazy.

Sorry.... Worked it out on my own. See below.

Glad you worked it out and I can only answer for Windows. I haven't used a Mac in a couple of years and forgot how it works...

For other Windows users who want to share bookmarks:

  1. Click Booksmarks or Favorites (or the Icon) depending on your browser's setup.
  2. Locate the bookmark you want to share and right-click the mouse.
  3. Select Copy.
  4. Put your cursor in the area where you want to paste the link. Press ctrl-v on your keyboard to paste.

Actually I couldn't make it copy and paste a url that way. I had to right click the bookmark, click properties and right click the url in the properties box to click copy there. I could then paste it to the post. A bit involved but it worked for me :)

I was trying to fix the link for the last entry. Finally got it to work but you need to "remove frame" from new page to make the page "appear" properly. I turned the air blue with a few choice phrases having to keep going back in and try again.....
