I thought I'd share my new clock stand. A few years ago I sold all my wood working equipment to my sister who has become an accomplished woodworker. Needing a stand to work on weight driven movements I gave Ann some general specs for what I was looking for and the attached pictures show the result.

The stand is made of white oak. The top frame uses finger joints and the vertical supports are mortised into the top and bottom. I was looking for a clock stand that would look good in my living room, what I got was a piece of furniture that I can use as a clock stand!

Regards,
Bruce

Beautiful! Looks more like a piece of furniture than a clock stand. One like that would not fit the décor of my shop.

The inside opening is 16"x12" which should hold the largest weight movement short of a tower clock and it would probably hold a small one of them. More practically the size allows several movements to be mounted on it at the same time. Each of the legs has levelers so the stand is very secure and easy to set up to be level. It's about 48" from the floor to the top.

I will share your comments with her! I told her she should sell them.

Did you put oil on the movement to make it shiny like that?

The movement was one of two that went thru a fire and were pretty blackened. The plates are lacquered. The brass parts were warmed in the oven and wiped/polished with bees wax. I wanted the first movement I used the stand for to match it in quality! LOL

Bruce: Beautiful job! You and your sister should definitely be complimented and proud; You for the design and your sister for the great effort. Good luck and use it with pride. Larry
