Looks similar to some of the Kieninger movements where the rack tail drops underneath and on to the snail.
In my experience the rack tail always falls on the snail. The setup you have looks ok to me. What problem are you having with the setup you have? breeze
The chime tries to work when i turn minute hand, originally the rack tail was under the snail, it didn't look right, i brought it up but chime still not working
What you have looks fine to me. When you say it does not work what do you mean? Does it strike the wrong number or is there a lack of power to operate the strike?
When the hands are off the clock the snail will move forward and the tail will land behind the snail. Try it with the hands on the clock.
I can get it to chime by raising and holding the rack,i have the minute hand on,but it wont chime on it's own,the spring seems fine,it unwinds when i hold the rack up for awhile
It looks like the tail has been repaired/replaced. It looks like a pretty good job, but the part that should hit the snail might not be shaped correctly, or the tail might be just a little off, causing the gathering pallet to encounter the tip of a tooth and stop. Can you post a pic of that area of the tail piece for us?
Use the "from PC" button and then select the pic from your pc files. It will upload and attach to your post.
