I made an impulse buy on this movement. The movement looks really clean
and the blue screws look almost new. Other than the big scratch it looks great.
The dial is wrong it should be a National Watch Co and it does have some
damage in the seconds register. I put it in the current nickle case(so not original case) the case
    is from the early 1880's.

Rob, I'm going through my dials tonight. If I can help, I will.

One of the first watches that I purchased before I knew any grade names etc(or even what a grade was)
was an 1885 Coin silver Hunting cased Elgin G. M. Wheeler.
I would walk around the house telling my
family look at this G M Wheeler, eventually they said OK dad
we know. Then I did the same with H H Taylor, and then with B W Raymond.
My family knows all the names(yes I drove them crazy).
My son when he bought his first watch with his own money
    it was a G. M. Wheeler.

Now he wants a Maximus(I said that name a lot too).

    Nice catch!

Other then your scratch, it looks great, nice Gilt and bright screws.

Did it still have it's dust guards? The older ones usually have Moseley's Pat etched in them. A neat tidbit I just found on a national.

I like the wheelers as well, thanks for sharing it! The slow train is a really neat sound.

    Glad you got that one.

I'm with Rick, nice grab Rob! I have HH Taylor but Elgin dial, Two BW Raymond's
both with National dials. I think I could get away with a National dial on the Taylor.

    Check your PM's.

I just picked up a National dial for the G M Wheeler so all this movement needs
now is a balance staff. :)

.............and I got a fleur de lee Key wind minute hand in the same
deal for my B W Raymond.

Rick educated me on Elgin's SN# sequence, so I'm staying with the Elgin dial on the HH Taylor.
I'm trying to decide what KWKS hands look best on any Elgin key wind. The Fleur (what ever
Rob calls them) or the Moons are my favorites though. HH Taylor SN# 277335.

    I don't have a GM Wheeler yet.
