• Upcoming updates
Over the next couple of weeks we will be performing software updates on the forum. These will be completed in small steps as we upgrade individual software addons. You might occasionally see a maintenance message that will last a few minutes at most.

If we anticipate an update will take more than a few minutes, we'll put up a notice with estimated time.

    Thank you!

Unusual motif for one of these clocks.

Best I remember, there are two types, one more square than the other. Thinks this one is not the square type, but no expert here. Named for the town of manufacture:???:

this Morez movement is the spring driven variant of the Comtoise movement :Big sturdy iron cage, steel strap plates, huge mainsprings both for strike and time, the strike being repeated ca 2min. past the hour.
These clocks- oreille de boeuf or wineyard clocks- often come with a different movement : the sqare version of the pendule de Paris movement:all brass plates, fine cut pinions and wheels,no strike repeat, also verry good quality movements.
The clock above is verry nice and rare,I´ve never come across a case like that, congrats!

Thank you for helping all of us with the definition of the clock movements. This knowledge and specifics, helps the growth of research for everyone.
Also thank you for the “congrats”. I’ve not seen one with this style motif either.

One might taste better than the other if cooked correctly
