As I work my way through the "clocks to be restored" pile, I am just beginning the restoration of an Ansonia Jumper (I think it is a No.1) novelty clock and need to find a source for an appropriate replacement ceramic doll. If anyone knows where a replacement doll can be found I would very much appreciate hearing from you.

In the meantime, I will thoroughly enjoy disassembling and cleaning this clock while determining exactly how it was designed to operate.

Thank you!

Don't know about a ceramic-- but-- replacements in plastic are available from the usual sources. They look good and much like the original.

Mr. James Eller, 3901 Porte Place, Greensboro, NC 27405, 336-375-5234 makes exact reproduction BISQUE dolls especially for the Ansonia Bobbing Doll clocks, all models. He also has the coiled springs that are special made for the same clocks. The repro plastic dolls available from the current clock supply catalogues will not work as they are way too light, and the springs that go with them are the wrong strength. While Mr. Eller gets a good price for his products, they are worth every penny. I have bought 3 from him in the past. He is a very pleasant man, and very informative as to these clocks. I don't think you'll be disappointed.

The person who posted the suggested source has not been on here since 2017, so may not see your message.

I believe Mr. Eller has passed away.

Others may know more.

Finding a replacement ceramic doll for an Ansonia Jumper novelty clock can be a bit challenging, as these clocks are vintage and unique. However, there are a few avenues you can explore:
  1. Online Auctions and Marketplaces: Websites like eBay, Etsy, or specialized clock collector forums often have vintage clock parts, including dolls, for sale. Keep an eye out for listings specifically mentioning Ansonia Jumper dolls or similar items.
  2. Antique Clock Repair Shops: Reach out to local antique clock repair shops or restoration specialists. They may have access to spare parts or be able to point you in the right direction.
  3. Clock Collector Groups and Forums: Join online communities or forums dedicated to clock collectors and enthusiasts. Engage with fellow collectors, share your restoration project, and inquire about finding replacement dolls. These communities are often knowledgeable and may be able to provide guidance or sources for parts.
  4. Custom Doll Makers: If you can't find an exact replacement doll, consider reaching out to custom doll makers or artisans who specialize in creating doll replicas or custom pieces. They may be able to create a doll that closely matches the original or provide alternative suggestions.
Remember to provide clear and detailed specifications, measurements, and any reference images you have when searching for a replacement doll. This will help others understand exactly what you are looking for and increase the chances of finding a suitable replacement.
Good luck with your restoration project, and I hope you find the perfect doll for your Ansonia Jumper clock!

Mr James Eller is very much alive or he was last week. His wife is in bad health and doesn"t make dolls any more but he might have some in stock.

Thank you very much for this info. If you were in touch last week, would you be able to ask him for me or is the number correct to your knowledge. I'm in the UK is the only reason I ask.
