Carson Bros. I have taken the liberty of changing the thread title to conform to the label. Never heard of them, and I don't find a mention in Spittlers and Bailey. They seem to be retailers, however, rather than makers. A look at the movement might help identify the actual maker. I wonder whether they might be British? Just thinking out loud on the strength of the words "American Clocks." What's written behind the gong? Any clues from the picture on the label?

    Thanks, Steven.

I took more photos. It's a New Haven movement. Says "extra bushed movement on label. Don't know what that means.

I just came across another online reference to a Carson Brothers clock. It was from a long since disappeared Ebay listing that referred to an eight day OG with alarm with a Carson Brothers label and a New Haven movement. The listing also apparently said that it was sold only by the Geneva Clock Company, are they mentioned on the label of yours?

The clock factory pictured on the label is of the "New Haven Clock Co." factory - can be seen in Trans NH book on page 24. I believe NH used that "extra bushed movement" line

Exactly, Jack. Thanks. I have a NH mini-OG (Jerome & Co.) with that line.

The customer who owns the clock runs a local auction and plans to sell it at auction once I get it running. I know we can't discuss values here, but he wants a ball-park idea of the value. Since it is rare, would it bring more than other more common ogees? PM me if you have an idea about the value. Thanks,

    Will

Hey, just on a lark, maybe the Carson Bros. were the business mentioned here, in Ripley, TN. Dates are consistent with the clock, I think.

If I use my imagination, I can sort of see what looks to be a printer's name at the lower right corner of the label- if so, is it legible? That might help.

Providing a little more information on the label, I believe it dates to around 1885 or later. The New Haven Clock (also Jerome & Co.) used a couple of variations of this label. I've never seen Carson Bros on the label. That's an exciting find. I assume "Favorite" is the model name used by Carson Bros. Like Peter, I'd be very interested in learning if there's a printer's name on the label. The versions I've seen have not shown a printer.

The movement is a type 1.412, made by the New Haven Clock Co. (and with their maker's stamp).

Thanks for all the interest and information.
Mike and Peter, there is not a printer name anywhere.

Will, lacking a period correct bottom glass, it would not likely get more than OG's might typically go for in your area. He may not get enough to cover your repairs. But, if well advertised it may attract collectors who would put a premium on the label.

Thanks, Harold. I will tell him. I may be tempted to attend the auction and bid on it myself.

I have a clock exactly like this one. It might have been manufactured in India, indicated by the wind-up key that is with it. From what I was told, it was rescued from a house fire by its original owner, Adeline Elizabeth Dozier (1835-1895), who was my great great great grandmother.

The key may be from India, but the clock is not.
