Just acquired a Herschede hall clock from a friend who was going to throw it away. It had been in their family for over 100 years and the kids didn't want it. I cannot find any similar pictures of this clock online to better identify it. There are papers in the weight tubes dated September 15, 1907. So my guess is that it was manufactured around that date. There are no stamps on the inside of the case, but on the back of the case and on the removable sections at the top, there are stamps that say "105". The movement only has the word "Germany" with the number "0" located below and on center with the word Germany.
If anyone could tell me a little more about this clock, I would greatly appreciate that. Additionally, I want to have the movement repaired (it works, but is old and dirty) by a reputable clock repairer near Western Pennsylvania if possible so I don't have to ship it. Don't know who I can trust, any opinions on that would be appreciated as well. I had one outfit from the Philadelphia area quote $15,000 to $20,000 to bring the movement up to "museum quality" but I seriously doubt this clock is worth anything near that price not withstanding the fact that I think that is a little excessive!
