• Upcoming updates
Over the next couple of weeks we will be performing software updates on the forum. These will be completed in small steps as we upgrade individual software addons. You might occasionally see a maintenance message that will last a few minutes at most.

If we anticipate an update will take more than a few minutes, we'll put up a notice with estimated time.

    Thank you!

Can anyone identify this?

I snapped this pic myself in my home so I certainly hope I am not in TOS violation again.

Maker would be great but I doubt I will get that much. As you can see, only marking anywhere is "Germany" on the dial below 6 'oclock. Nothing on the case or movement. It is a 5 rod Westminster. Looks not to be modern. It does seem to be a balance though.

At least any idea what century this is from? I know it is not very old but I also think it is not some brand new clock. It was simply given to me with no history.

Thank you Clock.jpg

I think I figured this out myself. It is most likely a Junghans 1920's-1930's. Often Junghans printed nothing on any part of the clock other than "made in Germany". Or it is some other clock of that era. I figure it is a little more rare as it is chiming and not repeater as is usually seen with these.

I am not sure this is a Junghans, but it may be. Can you please post a photo of the movement (and, by the way, you are not breaking any rules by posting photos of you own clock).

Nah, A guy I was telling about it offered to trade it for a Sonora. Which I also collect. I swear I am not trolling for price. However, now I am thinking he may know this is worth more than I know it is. I'd still rather have the Sonora but don't really want to shoot myself in the foot either. AFAIK, Junghans and the like are not worth but very much. Some are, like Joker but certainly not this one. I am sure you cannot advise me on trading either but either way I am happy with that since I really like Sonora. Plus Tran Duy Ly shows his clock just has to be a much nicer clock than this one. Anyways, except for the big buck stuff I don't care anymore. As we discussed earlier the market is gone on clocks right now. So I am comfortable with it. If for some reason I do not do so early this morning I will snap the Movement. Since I already boxed it up. This Woman I know her Mother passed away and she just gave it to me. I do not know her very well or I would not pull a jerk move like that.

I'd be asking for more than that clock for a Sonora. I doubt it is worth
as much as a Sonora.
Without seeing the movement, we can't tell much about it.
It was created with a standard of the shelf movement that wasn't
designed for this case. It is a copy of a style of a much older clock.

That is what I figured. Off to get it while the going is good. He obviously thinks that is a 1700's-1800-'s clock and it is in fact a 20TH century clock. It does have an off the shelf movement with no markings. Seems to be an older Hermle. I figure that clock is actually 1950's-1960's not 20's-40's as I had said even. Certainly not older than that. No way worth a Sonora so I will do this deal and run. Guy has more clocks than a hole in the head anyways. Of course I cannot find any info on this clock but going by the clock he described he is willing to trade from tran duy ly I am getting the way longer end of the stick. Also as I said I do not think it is a jerk move because the person that gave it to me is a girlfriend of a not so close friend. It is not like my best friend gave it to me. Quite frankly I am getting a Sonora for nothing. It is a 5 bell. Of course I cannot state the projected price but you know. I collect a small amount f Sonora's, mostly Atmos. I do have a few older clocks. Just not keen on repairs. That is why I bought the Sinclair over a cheaper vintage Triple Fusee. Anyhow, this is a deal I will take and run. I showed him so if he backs out of it after I drive 90 miles I will be the unhappy ne then I guess.

Well, did just as I said. I am pretty amazed myself. This thread is now useless as I no longer own the clock! However I do now have another nice Sonora! Got out of there as quick as I could Lol.
