Hi,

I cannot contribute with information about this specific clock, but would say that GBP 20 for a nice looking clock, which is working properly, is very well bought. Compare what else you get for that, e.g. 2 pizza and perhaps a drink on top.

Cheers, Bernhard

It would help us to help you if you could post photos of what is written on the back plate (at the moment it is hidden by the pendulum bob) and a close up of what remains of the word(s) on the dial.

The dial has the words "Made In England" below the "6." There appears to be nothing else .

Thank you Steven, I did see the Made in England (I should have said so), but I thought there were remnants of something higher up. I guess there isn't.

You will find a lot of information on Enfield clocks here on this site, if you use the search icon at the top of the page.

They are not valuable clocks, they were made in their thousands in the 1930s to1950s and were commonly seen in homes everywhere. Often known as 'granny's mantel clock' because everybody's granny seemed to have one.

You have paid about the right price and if it's working well, then you have got a good deal.

Were you looking for any particular information?

Hi Ashley,

Reference "Clockmaking in England and Wales in the twentieth Century" by John Glanville & William M Wolmuth.

The movement would seem to be an Enfield K1 movement made between 1932-1940.

This gold pendulum style was used from 1932 to 1938 so the date range would be narrowed to 1932 to 1938 assuming the pendulum is original.

Nice clock,
