What a coincidense... Only last week I serviced TWO of these.Nice watches to work on but can be a bit tricky to get out of the case. Pull the stam and loosen the opposite side of the movement. Then turn the crown and they should come out. (The crown stays in the case....)

They both had a funny problem, After cleaning, they both ran very well DD but stopped DU. Balance and jewels looked perfect but no go.....So I started looking for new balance arbors. I did not find any caliber markings.
It turned out I did not need them. The problem was ever so slightly musherommed lower pivots and a quick touch in the lathe followed by some burnishing solved the problem on both...... (Same owner)

Have a look in this link:
You can at least check the over all length.

EDIT: Sorry having had a closer look at your picture it is not exactly the same watch I serviced. Balance cock looks different! Hopefully the link may be of some help.

Great picture agemo!

So it looks like the OP has the caliber 19-34 which means the Ronda staff #2612 would do the trick.......

Did I get this right?

Hi agemo, thanks for this.
Would you happen to know whether the Zenith 19-34 caliber was the foundation for their Extra R.R.56 Canadian railroad watch?
If so, could you comment on parts interchangeability ...
Hi viclip
To my knowledge this movement is a totally separate manufacture and has no relation with other movements of the Zenith brand.
This movement has been delivered in three times and with some differences each time.
I am sorry but I can't help you too much.

Amicalement GG

Further thanks once again agemo.

Actually your response was quite helpful, now I know not to attempt to use parts from a 19-34 to repair an Extra R.R.56.

If anyone reading this knows of a listing of parts for the Zenith Extra R.R.56, I would be obliged to hear from you. Since my balance doesn't swing freely then I'll probably be needing a replacement balance staff & maybe one or both of its hole jewels.

roughbarked I hope you're not saying that the only available replacement parts for the Zenith Extra R.R.56 are those from another Zenith Extra R.R.56.

Geez, there were only 1,000 of these made (one source claims 1,700) so I'd just hate to have to cannabilize one of these exquisite movements ...

This could be the problem. However, if you have a staff to measure, then you can look for those measurements or make your own staff.
Yes the watch arrived just the other day & is completely intact so its component parts can be examined etc.

My watchmaker is able to turn staffs but prefers not to as it takes him all day to finish one. I like teasing him about the skills acquired by apprentices back in the day who spent an entire year on the lathe turning replacement staffs & thereafter could churn them out practically with their eyes closed!

Lucky me.

I just discovered that the pin of the center wheel arbor is snapped off (the broken off stub is present at least).

And so I half expect that the bottom center wheel arbor jewel is cracked if not outright broken.

I pray that another Zenith movement has parts compatible with my Extra R.R.56
