• Upcoming updates
Over the next couple of weeks we will be performing software updates on the forum. These will be completed in small steps as we upgrade individual software addons. You might occasionally see a maintenance message that will last a few minutes at most.

If we anticipate an update will take more than a few minutes, we'll put up a notice with estimated time.

    Thank you!

I just wondered if this tool:
KWM Clamp-On Bushing Tool
Is really worth investing in? It is very expensive but cheap compared to some other methods of re bushing?!
Just thought i 'd ask.. Cheers

You could probably make it work with some effort. It looks a bit clumsy, and would require a lot of fiddling with the bars and center piece in order to get to the outside holes. You would also need a set of reamers.

I’ve used one. Works fine. I turned the adapter with a hex driver. It’s the same size as multi bit screwdrivers, 1/4”. You can install it every which way you want and getting to holes near an edge has never been a problem. Sometimes though, a post or some other thing gets in the way but so does with a full size bushing machine. Certainly helps keeping everything square. It is pricey for what it is, but it does work.

In my opinion the clamp on tool being discussed, even with its limitations, is superior to "bushing with hand tools".

This is my thought as well, especially if you can insert the centre finder and clamp it so it is over the original hole. Keeps the reamer perpendicular to the plate as well.

I used it this morning. I thought I'd post pictures of it in action.
It works well IMO. Mine is set up to use Bergeon reamers.

I have to agree that it is indeed superior to hand bushing and set up is not that difficult either.
However not as rigid as a bushing machine, care as to be taken to not allow the reamers to wander off, there is a little run off.
it is a much cheaper alternative that yield very acceptable results. Nibbling is almost necessary in most cases.
It's not as fast as a machine but faster that hand bushing, and more accurate for sure.

Last pic shows how centered in the oil well the new hole is. Ready to accept a 2.5mm bushing.
