Search google books for Les brevets d'invention concernant l'horlogerie for a book on French patents of the 19th century - published 1873

    Jonathan,
If you have a U.S. patent number, you can try looking it up using the Google patent search function.

You could try "COMPLETE LIST OF ENGLISH HOROLOGICAL PATENTS UP TO 1853." by Charles K. Aked, C Eng, MIEE Printed and bound by KENT PAPER COMPANY LIMITED, London and Ashford. Allan.

    PS: They start in 1662.
