    Hello to all

Hope someone will be able to help us to find out anything about our Blancpain watch.

What we know is that Since II World War we have in our family this beautiful watch. Face of watch was bought in IIWW by one of our family member on deployment , probably in France. Strap was bought later in UK in Mappin & Webb (no clue when was bought, M&W are looking on our request through archives), No serial number anywhere on watch. Blancpain U.K and Swiss headquarters Don't want to help saying is part of valuation process. We never ask them to value it, only if they know who made it and when. We are afraid to open it without a master watch maker ( if any exist in Herts, beds, Buckingham or London area ), watch movement is under face so we will need a specialist to get in to it without damaging anything.

We would love to know who and where was made.

If anyone will got any suggestions or information about it we will be really happy

A good clear photo of the movement would be helpful along with one of the inside of the case back.

Quite rightly, the OP doesn't want to try and remove the movement because it does actually need someone with experience to go any further. All that being said, I'm not at all fond of the 18KTN on the back.

I think it says 18KTS, not 18 KTN, but I agree with you, I would not have expected to see that.

OK. KTS then. Looks too amateurish for a Blancpain. I see the top right corner of the back looks like the gold plating is worn pretty thin.

"18 kts" is quite common for watches made in France to be marked this way for the American Market.

Cartier watches are often marked this way.

What bothers me is the "mde in France" on the dial. These little Blanpain movements were made by the millions by the Fiechter family when Betty Fiechter took over the manufacturing and specialized in small movements for almost every big maker.

But they were made in Velleret (they used the name "Rayville" to make it sound more American) Switzerland. not France. (that I know of)

I wasn't suggesting that the OP attempt to remove the movement himself but I was suggesting that it would be very helpful to see a good clear photo of the movement and the inside of the case back to determine the legitimacy of this watch.

Indeed it would also be helpful to see inside the back.

For update we receive email from Blancpain in Switzerland. They want to make expertise on it in they headquarters. Will take at least 3 months. And saying is probably Blancpain Deville. If anything we are looking for watch made before 1939. We couldn't find any expert who can safely remove face of watch in uk, even in their shop in London. So we will be sending it to Switzerland and hopefully get some answers.

I am very surprised (and find it very hard to believe) that you could not find a watchmaker/watch repair person capable of that job in London rather than sending the watch back to Blancpain for a "3 month investigation". Did you ask what the cost of their work would be?

MINI problem with it you can go to movement of the watch only by taking all parts from front and for so old watch we don't want to risk that some guy calling himself a watch repair/maker that can change battery in seiko or Casio can be capable to not destroy it.

Whatever. No one was suggesting that you take that watch to a mall kiosk and ask the girl behind the counter to take it apart. There are numerous qualified individuals that could easily have handled that work in England. But it is your watch and your money. Do as you wish.

I know how to remove the movement from your watch. I'm sure there are more people in England who know how to than there are in Australia.
