An elderly neighbor lady brings things over for me check out and today she brought this Bigelow Kennard mantle clock over. This not a large clock, measures 10" tall x 14 1/2" wide but this thing weighs 32 lbs. It is made of some kind of black stone. The quality movement is marked B&K Co. Any info on this would be greatly appreciated. ClocB&K-5.JPG ClocB&K-5.JPG ClockB&K-2.JPG ClockB&K-6.JPG

This is what is typically known as a French Marble clock. Made from the 1840s onwards, this one would have been made in France for Bigelow Kennard and Co, and is probably a little later into the 19th century. If you are interested, there is a book, long out of print but still available second hand, called "The French Marble Clock" by NM Thorpe that will give you a bit more information
