• Upcoming updates
Over the next couple of weeks we will be performing software updates on the forum. These will be completed in small steps as we upgrade individual software addons. You might occasionally see a maintenance message that will last a few minutes at most.

If we anticipate an update will take more than a few minutes, we'll put up a notice with estimated time.

    Thank you!

A friend of mine was cleaning out his basement and gave me this clock movement. I am new to all of this so I am not sure what kind of movement it is. It has no markings on it other than what you will see in the picture. It may not be much, but it was free. I figured it would be a great piece to learn on. It does run but it does need some work.

I'm not sure if it is a mantle or wall clock. I'm not sure about the numbers in the last picture either. I figure one of them is the pendulum length. Any help would be much appreciated.

Looks like a mantel clock movement of post WWII manufacture in Germany.

The short pendulum length 12 cm isn't right for a most wall clocks; the beat (178 3/4) is quick ticking. Front mounting lugs suggest a modern mantel clock movement.

Thanks for your thoughts. I have found pictures of similar movements online, but none that matched exactly.

It's a Kienzle design, no earlier than 1930's. Girod of France also used this movement pattern for their own clocks - it is not currently known if they produced them in France with permission from Kienzle or if Kienzle simply made them as a show of war reparations.
