Picked up this movement today, running. Pocket watch data base has it as Ball Waltham. Ser#B025075. Dial reads Ball Watch Co Cleveland..Every Ball Waltham I've seen has the gold emblem on the movement. Is this some kind of Swiss fake? Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Only the Waltham-Ball Official ** Standard (** = RR or Brotherhood) movements had the gold seals. These were actually a gilt plug set into the barrel bridge. The Commercial Standard movements didn't have them.

Been researching this for the last 2 hours. It seems that Commercial Standard was a Ball watch that wasn't railroad approved. They were made for the average Joe that wanted a nice grade pocket watch but didn't want to pay the high price for railroad approved. Anyone else have information on this? Thanks T

Disregard my last post Ii did not realize that you were talking about a commercial standard (i should have read the heading/title), none of these ever were made with a gold seal as Kent has stated above. I read somewhere that these were aimed at Bus Drivers, Business men and the like that didn't have to adhere to the exacting standards of the Railroads, how much truth is in that I do not know for sure.
