I have recently acquired a Badische 30 day clock, and as with all the '400' day clocks I got I would like to replace the main spring BUT !! cant find one does anyone know where to get one in England ?
Mervyn Passmore's Anniversary Clock Identification book say the spring is 8mm x 0.3 x 400mm the nearest I can find is 8mm x 0.3 x 700mm do you think this will be ok ?

You can shorten the 700mm spring to 400mm if you need to. Just a matter of cutting it off, tempering the end, putting in a new hole and shaping it like the old one. 400mm seems a bit short, but I'm not sure of that. I'd match the thickness and length of whats in it now. I probably would not even replace it. They are usually fine, but need really good, slippery lubrication.
