Bad Pivot OR ?????????

Look at how far to the left this pivot has worn in to the plate.

Well its bad, I can't tell if it is the pivot or the bushing but it ain't no good like it is.

I call this 'shelling'. The pivot is to short and has burrowed in behind the outer edge of the hole wedging itself between the plates. The outer face of the hole is not usually worn that much.

Be careful getting the bushing back to center. If you mark it first and work from the inside, you will probably be OK. And place the bushing for minimum end play, so maybe it won't replay. German clocks do this a lot.

I don't think it's tunneling. The pivot still extends beyond the oil sink as far as I can see. That pivot will need some serious polishing bevor bushing the pivot hole.

Take a GOOD Look at the last picture.
The pivot does not extend past the oil sink.
