I doubt there are strong advantages of one over the other. One possible advantage of using the Dubois Depraz module would be that a maker could use a commmon base movement for both plain and chronograph watches. Since most of the wear and tear is on the base watch the maker/repairer would have to stock fewer spare parts. The higher jewel count might make teh watch more attractive to buyers too.
Module chronographs have the two buttons below the stem forming a triangle instead of a straight line formed by the three. Some liek on some like the others.
