A good friend of my wife’s posted on a social media website that there is a Greek artist named Gregory Grozos is making “miniature” pieces of art inside old pocketwatch cases! It made me remember I have a piece of “artwork” that was given to my father many years ago by my older brother that is made from old watch pieces! My father had an accounting business and this piece of “artwork” is personalized with a “certificate on the wall” with his business name. I believe this piece came from the Kalamazoo, MI area.
Does anyone else have pieces like this, this one was signed by a “Girard”!?
Thanks, Brad Maisto, KY Floral #44 Secretary

The NAWCC Museum has a number of unique objects (like the attached) created from watch and/or clock parts in its collection. Virtually all of them pre-date the modern "Steampunk" movement and demonstrate that artists have been inspired by the uniqueness of some of the mechanical forms found in watches and clocks.

you quite often see displays of mounted backcocks from English verge pocket watches, the engraving is an art form in itself. I have a number of framed longcase dials that had been orphaned from their movements and cases years ago.

Actually, pictures like this are rather common. They are all over eBay and other sites.

Made by Girard and many others. Tourist items. I recall that in the '70's it seemed that everyone who travelled to the UK brought home works with images like the following.

Lotsa touristy stuff as one might expect for tourist items:

Including MANY "Big Bens" of course:

    Rolls-Royces (how British):

And a slew of other images ranging from koalas to trains to planes and so on. I guess even accountants.

They're now hailed as "steampunk". I remember them as cheap "kitsch".
