    Tall Case Clock, c. 1770, John Mason. This clock was part of the recent gift from the California Academy of Sciences. The calendar clock movement, having round steel ring dial mounted on square brass face plate and marked with Roman numerals for hours and Arabic numerals for minutes. ”John Mason, Bawtry” imprinted near base. Separate dials for seconds and days are mounted behind brass plate. Decorative cast elements painted gold, mounted on corners of plate. Movement and iron bell mounted to back of plate. The 2-piece clock case with carved door and lower panel. Three wooden finials, possible replacements, decorate top of the hood.
