Hi Mike and welcome to the NAWCC Forum.

I would also say it's Gold filled.
Plus you can see some braising(see non gold metal under gold layer) on the case
    Brooklyn Watch Case Co.

    Mikeinlodi87, et. al.:

This is indeed a nice little watch.

Page 112 of the 1904 Trade Marks Of The Jewelry And Kindred Trades book clearly identifies this stag trade mark, as others have noted, as a Brooklyn Watch Case Co. Granger grade case (as does the Brooklyn case paper - enlarged from an ad).

However, the Granger grade case is not gold-filled. It is a solid gold, double-stock (14K outer layer, 8K inner layer) case.

What appears to be "brassing" are shadows in the pictures, dirt/grime and possibly acid stains from testing. Also, some discoloration may be due to the fact that the 8K gold on the inside is only 1/3 gold, The other 2/3s of the alloy is made up of non-precious metal (i.e., base metal).

Thanks Kent for the correction. I had misunderstood that from the first time I read it. I didnt realize it was 14/8.

As Rick said, thanks for the correction on case material, Kent, couldn't find that mark.
