I am looking to identify and value an antique pocket watch with a key winder that has the signs of the zodiac on it and was purchased in an antique store in China in 1999.

If anyone has information on antique chinese pocket watches please advise.

Hi arilsc, and wellcome to this message board! There were watchmakers in Switzerland in the city of Fleurier who specialized in watches for the chinese market around 1850+/-,the most famous named Bovet. Can You post pics of Your watch, front and back, and most detailed of the movement?I´m shure we can help You with information!

Hi arilsc
There are so many of the Zodiac dial Chinese pocket watches offered for sale that I start to think that something doesn’t quite stack up. The movements look OK that makes me think that they have new dials.
Most of the Chinese style pocket watches have a Duplex escapement with batwings on the escape wheel.
Here is a site that tells you most of what you need to know about Chinese Market pocket watches.

Lets hope yours is an old genuine watch.
If you have photos that would help with identifying the watch.
Cheers
Kurt
