Hi,

This is my Eastlake style Ansonia gingerbread clock:

http://www.angelfire.com/me5/clockman/ansoniaeast.html

I'm told it's an Aden model, made in 1894.

It's in 100% original condition, and in overall excellent condition.

The only thing on it that looks slightly "off" is the glass. It's old and wavy, and it's an Ansonia pattern of the correct period, but it's a little loose in the frame, and the pattern is "crowded" at the base.

This is a fairly common model, but I really like it.

Here is an Ansonia "Lenset" A/C electric clock, made after the company discontinued operations in Brooklyn in 1929. See an upcoming Bulletin article (August or October)for more info about this little-known (unknown?) aspect of Ansonia's history.

The match when not fastened properly in the holder, when the alarm went off, sent the match flying and at times burned the house down. Thus the flying match clock.

Have any pictures of it in action? Proper action that is... please don't burn anything that isn't supposed too. What was it... some sort of night light that went off when the alarm did? I never saw anything like it so have no idea why a clock is playing with matches.

If you look at the picture closely on the very top right you can just see the wick of an miniature oil lamp. When the alarm goes off the match strikes rough paper on the left and flips to the right to light the oil lamp. The alarm(match) is not set in the picture. When the alarm is triggered it rings the bell and lights your oil lamp at the same time.

Harold, I saw a similar clock for sale at the National. It was priced well out of my price range

This edit is because I am also experimenting with a new photo-site and am posting images from there. So I'm adding my newest Ansonia purchase to this post.

That didn't work... not all photo sharing sites are created equally? Trying again (back to flickr).

Well, this may not be kosher, but here's my "premature" Ansonia contribution. It's a Turkey model, ca 1894.

Sadly, she awaits a movement :frown: . I just got outbid the night before last on the proper one, but it had bad escape wheel teeth and went for too much money.

I have a parts wanted ad out in the Mart and an "I want it now" post on eBay. It's a very specific movement and not that common.

I apologize in advance if this post was meant for complete clocks.

Post a picture and give the details on the movement?
It must be a front mount.

Don,

It is indeed. An 8-day, T/S front mount with 5 1/2 stamped on the lower left front of the rear plate. So far that's not uncommon, but I need the movement to NOT have a wheel or key-shaft S/F adjustment at the top of the suspension spring. Just a slit post. The S/F adjustment is on the bob.

This picture is of a Tivoli model, one of the 6 in this series. David LaBounty actually originally found this out for me and I have since borrowed Tran's Ansonia book. It does not show this movement. I think it was a 2000 issue or thereabout.

I found one fellow with the Turkey model in California and asked him to describe the movement. Then, I found this Tivoli on eBay being sold in the UK. A great buy so far, but I am leary about shipping across the pond.

Here's what I need as close as I can determine:

All you have to do is look for an Ansonia movement with four taps and it will probably have what you need.

good luck a pictures helps all those who may have one.

I only have outside escapement movement and all needed right now.

good luck.

I've got two Ansonia clocks, but I wouldn't say they are great, when comparing them with German clocks, I dunno. I never knew Ansonia clocks were so collectable?

Did you recently purchase that clock on ebay, I think I saw it.

It is missing a bolton part across the top.

But still a very well designed clock.

Thanks Don
No I very rarely buy clocks on ebay, I tend to find them elsewhere and generally a fair bit cheaper as they ususaly need fixing up. but I enjoy the fixing them up as much as I do owning them
I guessed there was something missing from the top but wasn't sure what.
Id love to see a photo of what should be there and what model it is if anyone can help

Don,

That eBay movement is not right because it has the S/F adjustment at the top of the suspension spring. This one (just listed) is. 320053457783
