im not sure why i like it, but i do. whats odd is my wife wants to keep it rather then try to sell it, which is an ongoing battle, because i want to keep all that i get. lolIt looks like it's the Minerva model. online, I found gilt all over and gilt on just parts. Nice clock!
when its redone with some color, to be determined, i dont think it will even be noticeable, and it dosent bother me. im not a stickler for perfection. Im a lot younger that that clock and have twice the scars it does, and its just a part of my history as are the scars on the clock. What I like are the "carvings" on the back (!) and the top!! The missing leaf on the top center might be easy to recreate with clay, wood or something else?
ive seen a lot of color combos, and one i did kind of like had the main color in the recessed areas, and then the raised portions had highlights. Ive got the base color, and the original columns were and are a bronze color with the column caps and bottoms a brassHere is my Minerva. I pondered the finish for many years. I saw several with the brighter finish on the face and pillars and the darker bronze background. I think the pillars were brass. A couple of pictures for you to ponder. I don't know what is absolutely correct.
