This little fellow is like some Penn clocks, but is thought to have been made in North Carolina. It has provenance from there, all the wood is American and the movement is very much like a couple signed clocks from Penn but are very much American. Anybody else have anything similar? Another clock from my daytrip today.

I have 3. Just kidding.
My first reaction to the movement was PA but that and a Charlie Card will get you on the "T".
Could be Southern. However, that case also makes me think Philly? For example, see Cooper's "Classical Taste in America", pages 56-57 and the figures therein. Note the crest on the Philadelphia side board and the illustration from Thomas Hope's design book which inspired the Philadelphia piece. Then again, I'm sure Hope's work was available to furniture makers in the South?
Another thought is further south, Baltimore. See Weidman, "Furniture in Maryland", page 142, entry 102. Note the cornice of the writing table and book case.
Sorry. Once again freely associating and unencumbered by the thought process.
