The paper label inside the clock reads
    IMPROVED

    (With Brass Bushings)

    William's, Orton, Preston's
    & Co.

This is a 30 hr. wood movement, in a pillar style case that is 33" tall and 16 1/2" wide. There is a peice of tape on the back where its writen in ink Seth Thomas 1825-1835. I dont beleive this date is any where near correct for this clock and Seth Thomas is not indicated anywhere else on the clock. The movement is 8" tall and 6 1/2" wide and the wood countwheel and brass esc. wheel are caried on the outside of the front plate.

    Thanks in advance
    Michael Bos

Hi, TR. Spittlers' and Bailey's American Clockmakers and Watchmakers dates your label to 1837-1843.

Thank you Harold, thou i must say im surprised as this clock does not have the apearance of 170yrs. old. The veneer on the front door is in very good condition evan for say a hundred yrs. and the paper label inside is nearly perfect.

Michael, they were very well made, compared to much of the junk sold today. Just depends on how they were treated by previous owners, and how stored.
