    These technical service manuals show up frequently at NAWCC marts. If you are a member, keep your eyes peeled.

    As for the Accutron on which the seconds hand moves but the others don't. You probably have a model 218 or a derivative therefrom. This is a common problem with these, especially if the case has ever leaked moisture. The minute pinion assembly (cannon pinion) on these is the problem. This assembly has a typical cannon pinion with a larger drive wheel a friction fit on the bottom end. The pinion portion turns on a hollow idler post through which the seconds arbor runs. The problem is usually RUST between the idler post and the pinion. When this happens, the pinion seizes while the drive wheel on the lower end of the pinion keeps turning! This results in the phenomenon you are seeing. Unless you are very experienced in repairing watches, it might be an idea to have it done!
