• Upcoming updates
Over the next couple of weeks we will be performing software updates on the forum. These will be completed in small steps as we upgrade individual software addons. You might occasionally see a maintenance message that will last a few minutes at most.

If we anticipate an update will take more than a few minutes, we'll put up a notice with estimated time.

    Thank you!

A very ordinary novel watch!!!

A few years ago that watch would have made a lot of money, but financial times have changed. I doubt that such tenuous provenance will support that price .... but who knows? It will be interesting to see if it sells ;)

Yes indeed - I am going to monitor this one closely as a guage on the current state of our economy. So €100 would be about right, methinks :D

Oh, but wait - it has just been announced by the Government that an extra €3.8 billion!!! has been unearthed - a silly little accounting error is their spin on this "minor" matter. An error that a 12 year old could have pointed out to them has taken over a year to be "discovered." Will heads roll? No. Will anyone be blamed? Try the most minor just-out-of-college graduate in the dept. of finance. A wag of the finger to him. How about the extraordinarily well paid civil servant with responsibility in this area? No - he has shrugged it off as an "errors will happen you know" situation. How about the chief honcho, the minister himself? - ehm, no - just heard about it the previous day. Will it be of any benefit to Joe Average? - well that watch might just climb to €100 and one cent.

Rant over:confused:

And the actual hammer price that was achieved for this very ordinary watch on Monday last was :???::???::???:?

Go on - Give a guess:???: How good are you at valuating:???:

What you do know is that it is a:

Gold pocket watch belonging to a grave digger, and according to its owners, is the watch that is very briefly mentioned in the novel Ulysses by James Joyce

Let's just say that the €8000 estimate, was somewhat unrealistic.:)

OK, now that you feel you have a pretty good idea: click on link

It's an astonishing price  It just proves that even in times of huge economic depredation there are a privileged few who are protected from the realities of the world. It also demonstrates the old adage that he who wants to believe will believe :D

Hi ladies,

I'm still uncertain what's crazier, paying tons for a questionable history or believing it.
Anyway, I have still Jesus' automatic on stock. Bids are welcome.
