Where could I find information about the number of clockmakers in Colonial America. I imagine the number is small.

You would need to define what you mean by "colonial". I would guess that the number would be surprisingly large.

Colonial would include those active prior to independence, Unfortunately the list Royce provided seems to cover a later era.
