Hi All!

Had a few questions on this generic KW/KS one that I just cleaned and oiled and which is running nicely.

1) The only stamp other than serial numbers is a cross or + with 646 on the bottom balance plate. Any idea if this is a model/calibre number or such?

2) Was it common for these to require different key sizes for winding and setting? -first time I've seen that.

3) Were the red 24 hr markers on watches from this age military or railroad markings?

4) When was this type of style produced-late 1800's? Not sure if case markings help.

Thanks! Always looking to learn more from each and every watch!!

I have a Swiss bar cylinder movement that has a dial with red 24 hr markers. It also has two different sized arbors for winding and setting, and it has the Louis XVI style hands. At one point I deduced that mine may have been made by a Le Carpentier, but that might have been more of a guess. Sorry about the lighting in the image. Not a lot of light in this room right now and a flash might have added too much glare. Cheers.

Wow-Thanks! I wrongly assumed that it was just a a generic marking-didn't realize that it was a co. trademark. Thank you so much for clearing that up and providing a name! Seth
