• Upcoming updates
Over the next couple of weeks we will be performing software updates on the forum. These will be completed in small steps as we upgrade individual software addons. You might occasionally see a maintenance message that will last a few minutes at most.

If we anticipate an update will take more than a few minutes, we'll put up a notice with estimated time.

    Thank you!

A child's watch or ?

I have a small watch which was found with my mother’s things after she passed away. It is obviously a low quality watch, but I still find it very interesting.

The case is of press metal (non-ferrous), hinged, and the brackets for the band are part of the case. The marking inside the case says: BEST Extra Quality

The marking on the dial is hard to read, but appears to say something like: “SegORok” in a stylized script.

The movement is marked: “Korones Bros. Watch Co. 2 Adjustments Six 6 Jewels”

Currently, the watch runs, but I cannot set the hands via the stem.

I am assuming that this was a child’s watch, but what can anyone tell me about it?

More likely a ladies wristwatch. Below is a page from Hamilton's 1926 catalog.

Tom:

Thank you for the information on the Hamilton watches.

I don't think this watch comes close in quality to the Hamiltons pictured in your ad. The least expensive, at $48.00 is the 2006 equivalent of about $534.00. I can't imagine this watch ever costing that much.

Has anyone heard of the Korones Bros. Watch Co.? Perhaps this is a child's knock-off so she can have a watch "just like mommie's"?
