A.Charles Cookstown jeweler and watchmaker

I have found an ols English size 10 pocket watch with a key that has the above information on it Im guessing early 1800 to mid 1800 possibly earlier....The case is sterling with the proper marks.will try to de- cipher date mark...watch is complete except for balance wheel..any suggestion about how to possibly find one that might work?? miracles do happen sometimes...any help appreciated..

Firstly, Cookstown is in Co. Tyrone, (Northern) Ireland. It is most tlikely that A Charles was a retailer rather than the maker of the watch, although he is listed in Loomes 'Watchmakers and Clockmakers of the World Vol 2' as working in 1880.

I think that you would have to work long and hard to find a balance assembly that would fit your watch successfully - especially in Texas.

thank you I didnt know if it was English or Irish...I guess it will be impossible to find parts...I'll just use it as a conversation piece...
