    anyone think $925 is too much for such a movement, seller will take $500.I still think it is too much. Has a broken gear, no hands, weights, dial, pendulum bb.

    sorry about linking to ebay.

    I didn't even think they made 8 day wood movements. Should be pretty rare, but I don't know...

    There were many eight day wooden movements made. As well as doing a Bulletin supplement for 30 hour wooden movements, Snowden Taylor put out a supplement for eight wooden movements.

    They are certainly not rare.

    Never tracked values of wooden works but just gut instinct - I'd think two might be tops unless it had some signifigance such as maker, etc.

    thats what I thought, but of course the seller says he has a friend who will pay the $400+, just another gimmick!

    Mr X;

    It Depends on which style 8 day WW movement you are talking about

    I was told by an old timer I know that the going rate for them is at least $300 for the movement regardless of the condition.

    If you are talking about a large pplate Terry type, the price could be higher.

    I was looking for a movement for my Marsh + Gilbert 8 day for a long time on ebay. I missed one at $360. I then waited 10 monts before another one came along. Then there were 3 movements within three weeks. I landed the second one for $238 so I was very pleased. Ironically the third one sold for only about $150. Oh Well....

    Good luck getting the one you need. Do you have the 8day ww supplement to help identify what you are lookoing for?

    I ordered the supplement. The movement looks like the long plate version with mahogany plates. Doubt it will be going anywhere quickly!
