30 hour wood works Ashby Mass Tall case clocks

    Can these basic low end clocks ever have steel pendulum rods .............or are they always wood? With a brass cased lead filled bob.........Thanks Pasquinel

    I've got an A & C Edwards from Ashby, around 1795... The wire that comes out of the anchor does not loop around to hold a steel rod. It only sticks straight out (which is inserted into the rod itself). A movement like these Ashby clocks would have wooden pendulum rods. I'm not saying that there were not Ashby clocks that used steel rods, but it looks like they stuck with wooden rods.
