30 hour New Haven striking too fast?

Good day!
I have overhauled my first 30 hour cottage clock- a New Haven movement in what is likely an American Clock Co. case (This one)
It seems to be running well and keeping good time, but it strikes so much faster than other clocks I've met. Is this a normal strike rate?
Also, I've been winding it every 24 hours and the strike spring only needs half as many turns as the time side.

They topically strike faster than eight day clocks. Be sure the fly is snug on the arbor.

Thank you for giving it a listen.
The fly is the first thing I checked. It's pretty good- based on my limited experience. I was suspecting that maybe the spring had been replaced with a stiffer spring at some point in its history, but I forgot to measure while I had it back apart.
If it doesn't sound out-of-the-ordinary, I'll leave well enough alone.

I would say the strike is in the normal range for this type of clock. I have a similar one that's about that speed. A thinner mainspring should slow it down, bur at some point it may become unreliable on the startup. Adding weight to the fly is not the way to go, that will mostly just cause it to come up to speed more slowly. If there is room, adding surface area to the fly should slow it. Personally, I would leave it alone unless you have reason to know that someone has installed a stronger than original spring.

I agree with RC. The strike sounds normal to me. I think this was done to conserve spring power, so the time would wear down slightly before the strike did. A person can still easily count the strikes, so it's not a concern.

You can try letting the strike side run from the 'one day run down position'.
IOWs, after a normal one day run, wind the time side and leave the strike alone. Next day wind the time side up and wind the strike about 5 strokes, 2 1/2 turns. Then adjust the 5 strokes as necessary to get a strike speed you want. This will work just fine, without changing anything, once you find the magic number of key strokes.

Well there certainly seems to be a strong consensus among my de facto mentors.
I'll leave it be.
Thank you everyone!

How about a piece of tape on the fly to block some of or all of the air vents? Easily removed with no damage done if it does not make a difference.

Thanks! Following Willie’s advice, I let it run down an extra day and the strike is a more pleasant pace and less harsh on the ears. For what it’s worth, the video was 13 hours out from a tight wind.

No holes in this fly. And no room for expanding the size of the fly, either.

Bummer. Sounds like that’s the way this model works. Aside from adding a solder blob to the fan, which goes against the “Do no harm” mantra. That said, I added an Ansonia to my collection awhile back. It’s BimBam. At first, I was what the Hell is that? But after some time I’ve come to the enjoy the BimBam chime. Like beer, IPA vs Reds vs Darks, acquired taste is the key ;)

I also have a ST with a half hour chime that has a bell. When the wife hears it she says “Order up” :p

On a trip to Ireland I was asked about American beer. I said “Its like sex in a canoe, f¥€king close to water“ Arthur Guinness was a true hero. After all he signed a 900 year lease for 30 acres of land in Dublin to make his vitamin G.
